The Moment A Teeny Tiny Bird Uses A Flower Petal As Her Bathtub!

For six years now, Rahul Singh has taken amazing shots of wildlife in and around his home in Jalpaiguri, Indian.

He’s photographed elephants, rhinos, deer, jackals, and monkeys, however, his one true passion is for the amazing birdlife in and around his city.

Last year, around August, he shot a very special moment in time, one that left him spellbound.

Living in a humid area, precipitation is common, so when Rahul went out early one morning after some recent drizzle, he came across a Sunbird who wasn’t going to let all that collected water go to waste!

“I visited a place where there were bushes of these ornamental bananas to take photos of sunbirds sucking nectar from it,” Rahul told The Dodo.

“Everything was going as usual when, suddenly, I was shocked that the crimson sunbird started taking a bath in the water stored in the banana flower petal.”

After the tiny bird had eaten her fill, she decided it was time to take a bath and used the petal as her own private bathtub.

“I was literally stunned to see this unusual behavior,” Rahul said. “I kept my camera’s shutter button pressed as the bird took her bath.”

Overjoyed to be in the right place at the right time, Rahul shared his priceless shots on Instagram, where thousands of people were just as transfixed as he was.

“This was really a once-in-a-lifetime moment,” Rahul said. “It’s amazing how nature can surprise us.”
