Intended As A Meal For A Young Bald Eagle A Baby Bird Finds It’s Up For Adoption Instead!

A webcam set up to record a Bald Eagle’s nest on Gabriola Island, British Columbia, captures some unbelievably spectacular exchanges between a Bald Eagle mom, her baby, and a baby red-tailed hawk.

A baby Red-tailed hawk believed to have been captured by the Bald Eagle as food for her eaglet sometime earlier appears to have survived being an intended meal and subsequently been adopted by mom.

Though hard to make out, the video below is spellbinding to watch once you understand who exactly is involved.

The video shows the eagle mom returning to the nest with white prey held in her talons. This is the young Red-tailed hawk she intends to feed to her eaglet, the dark-feathered bird waiting in the nest.
