The varied tit

The varied tit (Sittiparus varius), is a perching bird from the Paridae, tit family. Varied Tits have a black head with a conspicuous fine cream mask-like streak running from the crown to the nape.  

Splendid Fairy-wrens

Like other wren species, Splendid Fairy-wrens (Malurus splendens) are socially monogamous but sexually promiscuous, meaning that although males and females partner with one another they will quite happily mate with other individuals.

The plush-crested jay

The plush-crested jay (Cyanocorax chrysops) is an elegant medium-sized bird with underparts, chin, throat, neck sides, and breast that are black. The rest of the underparts vary from creamy-white to pale yellowish.

The rose-breasted grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus), colloquially called “cut-throat” due to its coloration, is a large, seed-eating grosbeak in the cardinal Cardinalidae family.

The main characteristic of this species is the massive, dusky horn-colored, cone-shaped bill, hence the name Grosbeak.

The Taiwan blue magpie (Urocissa caerulea), also called the Taiwan magpie, or Formosan blue magpie. They are about the size of the European Magpie, but with a longer tail. It is 64-65 centimeters in length, with the wing measuring 18-21 centimeters and the tail measuring 40 centimeters in length.

 The rufous-crowned tody-flycatcher (Poecilotriccus ruficeps) is a bird measuring 9.5 and 11 cm in length. It has a black mask, along with a red or in some cases pink to rufous crown and cheeks.

The narrow-billed tody (Todus angustirostris) is a species of bird in the family Todidae. It is one of two Todus species endemic to Hispaniola, a Caribbean island shared by the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

The vermilion flycatcher (Pyrocephalus obscurus), is a small passerine bird in the tyrant flycatcher family of birds. Measuring 5.1 – 5.5 in length from tip to tail this bird weighs in at 0.39 to 0.49 ounces.

The flame-throated bulbul (Rubigula gularis), is a member of the bulbul family of passerine birds. 18 cm long this bird has an olive-green back with yellow underparts, a black head, and an orange-red throat.

(Lophornis helenae), is a species of hummingbird in the Trochilidae family. Resembling a large insect this hummingbird has a short red bill with a black tip. His back is glossy green, the rump black with a white stripe that separates the greenback from the black rump.

The northern carmine bee-eater (Merops nubicus or M. n. nubicus), is an African near passerine bird in the Meropidae family of bee-eaters. Characterized by their strikingly colorful plumage this bird is mainly carmine in color, except for a green-blue head, throat, and distinctive black mask.

The hangnest tody-tyrant (Hemitriccus nidipendulus) is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae. It is endemic to Brazil.

The rainbow bee-eater

The rainbow bee-eater (Merops ornatus) measures 7 to 8 inches in length which includes those elongated tail feathers. The upper back area and wings are green, with the lower back and rump a bright blue.

The Eurasian blue tit

The Eurasian blue tit is a small passerine bird with a bright blue cap and back, with a white face and dark lines across its eyes. It also has a yellow belly and a short somewhat stubby beak.

The New Holland honeyeater

The New Holland honeyeater (Phylidonyris novaehollandiae), is a honeyeater species found throughout southern Australia. A mainly black and white bird, with a large yellow wing patch, white facial tufts, and a matching white iris.

The red-and-green macaw (Ara chloropterus), also known as the green-winged macaw, is a large, mostly-red macaw of the genus Ara.

The lesser bird-of-paradise 

The lesser bird-of-paradise (Paradisaea minor), is a bird-of-paradise in the Paradisaea genus. 32cm long, the male is maroon-brown with a yellow crown and brownish-yellow upper back.  

The red-legged honeycreeper

The red-legged honeycreeper (Cyanerpes cyaneus), is a small songbird species in the tanager family (Thraupidae). The male is a bright violet-blue, with a black mask surrounding his eyes, black mantle, wings, and tail.

The white-browed meadowlark

 The white-browed meadowlark (Leistes superciliaris), is a passerine bird in the New World Icteridae family. The male is mainly black, though he does have a bright red throat and breast, with wing shoulder patches and a white supercilium (eyebrow).

The crimson sunbird (Aethopyga siparaja), is a species of bird in the sunbird family with medium-length thin down-curved bills and brush-tipped tubular tongues, both adaptations to their nectar feeding.  

The flame-faced tanager

The flame-faced tanager (Tangara parzudakii), is a species of bird in the Thraupidae family. Sporting a bright orange forehead and cheeks which turn to yellow on the rest of the head. He also has a black throat and ear patch.

The yellow-crowned bishop (Euplectes afer), is a species of passerine bird in the Ploceidae family native to Africa south of the Sahara. 3.7 in length this bird is sexually dimorphic with observable characteristics of males becoming more apparent. During the breeding season, the male has distinctive golden yellow and black plumage.
