The golden bush robin (Tarsiger chrysaeus) is a bird around 14 – 15 cm in length, weighing in at 12 -15 grams. The male is a shade of brownish-olive from the crown to his back with a bright orange-yellow on his rump, tail, sides, and entire underparts. He wears a black mask with black on his wings and the tips of his tail. His bill is dark above and yellowish below, with an olive-yellow on his legs.

The female’s overall color tends to be more diffuse and much less variegated. She also lacks the mask the male wears and has orange-yellow eyering.

Her upperparts are an olive-tinged, golden-brownish color. There is some orange on the sides of the tail and buffish-orange underparts.

This bird is endemic to and can be found in northern regions of the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia.

A very adaptable bird, the Golden bush robin likes to inhabit open areas with bamboo and or small shrubs. It also likes areas with secondary growth and or undergrowth forests dominated by coniferous trees right on up to the tree line. It is found between 3000–4600 m in summer, down to 600 m in winter.

These birds like to dine on insects, often foraging on the ground or in lower parts of shrubbery. They will also make short aerial sallies after flying prey.

The Golden bush robin breeds from May through to June. The nest is a compact saucer of moss and grass, lined with hair, wool, or feathers, placed in a hole on a bank or on a steep slope. The female lays a clutch of 3–4, eggs within. The nestling period is around 14 to 15 days.

Having a stable population this bird is regarded as of least concern on the IUCN Red List.
